D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for a Water Resources Project Engineer for their Engineering Department. The right candidate will serve as the lead hydraulics/hydrology (H&H) engineer on a variety of engineering projects related to residential and site development projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Demonstrates the ability to efficiently use drainage programs to develop drainage design alternatives and recommendations
- Perform watershed analyses for conceptual planning, outfall master planning, flood plain mitigation, and detention facility design
- Prepare drainage report documents with tables and exhibits for regulatory agency review and approval
- Prepare CLOMR/LOMR and LOMR-F FEMA applications
- Develop master drainage studies and models for land development projects, including flood plain mitigation
- Prepare proposals, scope of work, and contract cost estimates as needed
- Analyze, interpret, and monitor updates on latest regulations and criteria for local, state, and federal regulatory agencies
- Collaborate with senior management to determine methods and procedures on new assignments.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university with a Professional Engineering license (P.E.). Must be a registered and active P.E. in the state of Texas, with 8 years of experience in a similar role providing H&H support for land development projects.
Other Qualifications
• Proficient with various hydrologic and hydraulic drainage modeling software packages, including HEC-RAS steady, unsteady state modeling, HEC-HMS, SWMM, ArcGIS, Civil 3D and other proprietary drainage software.
• Ability to implement innovative design concepts for efficiency and cost saving measures.
• Identify potential software and/or equipment needed to supplement gaps in productivity and service capability.
• Ability to lead and train less experienced engineers.
• Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Must apply effective time management
